My fan broke last night on my GeForce 5500. I'm really not in the market to buy a new card. I'm saving up for a new rig. I can buy a new fan (minus the housing) for about $7.00 but the problem is I don't know the size. I tried searching all over the web but nothing helped me. Does anybody know the size?

Well thats almost the same heatsink as my Geforce 4. the fan is 40mm, but it mounts with the bracket on the top. Remove the screws and the fan should come out with the cap.

There are many chipset/vga coolers that should have a fan that will fit.
I recommend getting something that has ball bearings and not sleeve since they last longer

Do you shop online?

EDIT : On closer look those fans mount to the bottom. Yours looks to mount to the top metal frame...
[strike]this fan looks like it will just slip right in(use your heatsink as its better). Since i am not sure about how fast your old fan is, make sure you keep an eye on the card to make sure its not over heating.

Sleeve(will break quick, but should give you 6 - 12 months)

If you have room this is supposed to fit and its fanless so no fan to break ever again :)

EDIT. As a last resort you could remove the current fan(so it does not vibrate like hell) and just have a pci slot type fan blowing on the heatsink, should work.
