Hello all,

I am holding onto my friends RCA D52W20 set for about a year. I also just
got HDTV via Adelphia this week. The thing is nice, no doubt, but Im sure
it could be professionally aligned.

My question is this: Will Sears do a good job of service in this regard?
It was purchased there and there is a warranty. I dont know what level of
warranty yet, but Ill assume its not a service plan. What kind of costs
should I expect on something like this?

Thanks group,
SL

If the set is working per manufacturing specifications the manufacturer will
not pay for such tweaking, the service companies, sometimes depending on the
technician and company procedures, may do a "setup" using the available DVD
materials at a nominal charge to the customer. This type of adjustment is
normally not covered by any service contract, it is an optional adjustment
that many consumers can do with appropriate training and diligence.
The service contracts require the service companies to return the product to
manufacturer's specifications, or as close to that as possible. Not to align
or adjust to after-market datum. Yes the adjustments tend to produce a more
user friendly display and may lengthen the life span of the products, but it
is an option.
