I am going to be putting together a computer from some spare parts for one of my sisters to do homework on, browse the internet, do some burning with, and I was just wanting a recommendations as to which cpu/motherboard would be best for me to use.

Celeron 2.26GHz/Gigabyte 8S661FXMP-RZ http://tw.giga-byte.com/Products/Mo...board&ProductID=1855&ProductName=8S661FXMP-RZ
Athlon XP 2600+/Gigabyte GA-7VAXP http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Spec.aspx?ProductID=1391
Sempron 3000+/Winfast 748K7AA http://www.foxconnchannel.com/product/Motherboards/detail_overview.aspx?ID=en-us0000128

I have everything else I need taken care of, just didn't know which of these options would be best.

Thanks.

Do you own these CPU's already? Because you could buy a more modern motherboard with PCI Express with more features and a newer CPU like a lower end Athlon X2 dual core for $100 for both the CPU/mobo. I just built an all brand new dual core system for $250. AMD Athlon 4000+ X2 CPU, Asus M2M-MX Se Plus mobo, Asus case, 250 gig Maxtor HD, 2 gig DDR2 800 mhz RAM, Lite-On DVD burner, etc.. Memory upgrades are actually more expensive for those older, slower systems.

This looks like a great deal $59 for the CPU, mobo, and 512mb RAM.

I don't have to buy anything for this, just using some old parts I had from old computers. She wants to get something better eventually, but she just moved out so money is tight and I ma doing her a favor.

And oddly enough, I set my in-laws up with the exact system that was linked above a couple of years ago.
