Someone told me there are new high end graphics cards coming out in June/July this year. I'm about to build a gaming PC and am picking out the vid card. I'm not sure if I should wait until the new ones come out or if the ones available now will be a better value.

Does anyone know anything about the price/specs/anything?

More about : cards

ATI has the 4850 and 4870 coming soon. $200-250 price range and twice as fast as the current 3850/3870. NVidia has the GX260 and GX280 coming about the same time. Bout twice as fast as current 8800GT and 8800GTS. Price will be $400+ Google them for more info. I would wait if you can afford either. If you are looking for sub $200, now will be as good as next month.

Googled - but I can't seem to find benchmarks. No helpful ones at least.

Any guesses as to if a GX280 would be better than the current near-same-price alternative of two 8800 in SLI? When do benchmarks become available after release?

Or maybe GX280 in SLI? /greedy /needs a 2nd job

Wait awhile (1 or 2 weeks most) and yes, supposedly the G280 will be double the 8800GTS in speeds. The 4870 and the G260 supposedly will be as fast as the GTX9800x2 or faster without the SLI issues

if i was u i would get 2 4870's for CF over the gtx280 since the 4870 CF will probly out perform a single gtx280 at a cheaper price and you can probly overclock the hell out of them too whereas the 2tx280's overclocking potential will be limited by its size and temp. Then get an 8400 & you'll be set for a while, plus nvidia chipsets make me want to rape babies and then put them in a food processor for at least an hour, then pour it into the school lunch(even though i have one). intel makes way better chipsets so 4870 CF for sure

First of all I said supposedly, second, you remember the 7900GTX vs the 8800GTX?

I disagree with whoever said if you arn't spending more than $200 than buy now, the HD 4850 might be just under $200.

Jaydee seems to conflict jjok, hereby known as the baby rapist

I suppose the lack of consensus is reason enough to wait a few weeks!

Yea the 7900GTX VS 8800GTX fits the bill.

Ok I forgive you ;)

And if the new cards are twice as fast and around 200 bucks I will be getting one.
