Kind of a stupid question I guess but does the 9800GX2 really have a full 1GB of memory or does it act like 2 cards in SLi and doesn't actually double the memory?

I'm pretty sure it acts like two cards in SLI, with each card writing the same thing to each of it's own memories, and thus producing really only 512mb.

I think I've heard that the 4870X2 is supposed to fix this and actually double the memory or something. Just rumors of course.
