Hello all,
This is my first post here, so bear with me. I recently wanted to build a computer, and decided to put in an old SCSI hard drive. I have the adaptec PCI adapter installed and the hard drive connected, properly terminated. I pressed ctrl+A to get into the adaptec config utility but I'm not sure how to proceed. I have two options:

A at slot 01, 06:00:00
B at slot 01, 06:00:01.

Choosing the first does nothing, so I chose the second and it could find my HD with SCSI ID 0. The boot configuraiton is set to "B at slot 01, 06:00:01" but I cannot boot (it gives me some kind of error which I forgot). Now I'm formatting the drive. How long should it take to low-level format a 73GB drive? I want to make sure I don't stop it too early, but it feels like it's taking too long.

Any help is appreciated!
thanks!

With SCSI RAID controllers they usually perform an 'initialise' after the array is created. It's basically writing zeros to the disk(s) and checking for any bad sectors. So it's not doing a low-level format which is totally different. Typically for 73GB, probably 1hr at max.

Which Adaptec SCSI card is it?
