What to do if you right click on designated printer and it does not become the d

Hello,
When I right click on the designated printer for it to become the default printer it does not become the default printer. Haven't been able to solve this issue. also, the printer prints word documents but not PDF documents. When I try to print PDF documents all I see for choices is an old printer that I uninstalled, not the new printer.

Is XPS document writer installed ? Quickest and easiest solution is to disable the XPS document writer in the Printers panel.
