hi there. thinking of getting the antec truepower quattro 850watt power supply to run the upcoming ati radeon 4870 video card.

i can get it for 170.00 locally. it has 5 years warranty too.

i currently have an allendale core2duo 1.8ghz, 250gigabyte sata hdd, 3gigs ram, intel d965ot mainboard, two burners and many case fans.

any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

It's probably overkill for what you want. A good 500-600 watt power supply would give you more than enough power for that system. If you were running a quad core and Crossfire, the 850 watt might be necessary, but I don't believe you should spend more money on it.

i think its overkill too, but its a great PSU :) modular and all. yay. if u do get it, i don't think u'll regret it, but it is a lil bit more powerful than what is necessary to power your current setup.

well i do plan on going quad core cpu in future and a single 4870, but that's it.

found reviews of it on jonnyguru and hardocp.

i thought i read the 4870 draws like 200+ watts.

I recommend the Thermaltake tough power series, comes all modular and is silent :)

I have the 750W myself, cost abit... but is 1 hell of a PSU
