Critique my build

Has been about 4 years since the last time I built a computer.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600

MOBO: Abit IP35 Pro
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813127030

RAM: Corsair Dominator 4GB (2 x 2 GB) DDR2 1066 Mhz
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145197

GPU: EVGA GeForce 8800GT 512MB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130318

HARD DRIVE: Seagate Barracuda ES.2 750GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148295

OPTICAL DRIVE: Lite-On 20X DVD-RW with Lightscribe
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106072

CASE: Antec 900
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129021

PSU, CPU cooler, GPU cooler, KB/mouse/wireless: undecided. Not sure how much amperage I'll need. For cooling, leaning towards Zalman CNPS9700 and Zalman VF900.

  1. I'd probably opt for the 8800GT with a dual slot cooler (click). If you can afford an extra $40, upgrade to an 8800GTS (G92).

Power supply... go with a Corsair 550VX: http://www.buy.com/prod/corsair-vx-550w-atx-power-supply/q/loc/101/205852646.html
$10 more will get you a modular 520HX if you're interested in that: http://www.buy.com/prod/corsair-520w-sli-certified-modular-atx-power-supply/q/loc/101/203270716.html
  2. Perfect selection.

PSU: 400w 22a on +12v's or better. You should get a 450-550W if you want some headroom for future gpu upgrades. If that's all you'll run until the next major overhaul, then a 450w is fine. Corsair is a good brand. Earthwatts is another.

CPU HSF: The Zalman 9x00 is whisper quiet if you don't overclock. If you do, look at xigmatek hdt-s1283.

GPU HSF: See above & consider the GTS512 which has a dual-slot cooling fan. Quieter & cooler & faster. $40 extra is a no brainer cuz you probably spend $40 on a good GPU cooler.

KB/Mouse: Personal preference. I prefer Microsoft for their ergonomic non-cramp-inducing designs & ultra super mega tiny drivers. The scroll wheel is smooth as silk.
