Is GA-MA78GM-S2H + AMD X3 8650 overclocking possible for slight advantage?

hai ffriends,

I am building new pc for home purpose. Just for watching movies images phtos small games.
processor:AMD x3 8650 2.3MHZ
Gigabyte GA_MA78GM-S2H mobo
RAM 2GB 800MHZ
Sony DVD
Hard Disk 320GB seagate
No Windows Operating system
No graphics card (may be in future I will upgrade)
LINUX operating system.
may i overclock this to 2.8GHZ with out any problems.
Is above configuration sufficient for me ?(limited budget).

The original release Phenoms were x4 quad cores. AMD had performance issues so they disabled 1 core making them x 3(tri cores). Although I have a quad core 9850BE, I read a bit about them. I am sure it will overclock some but on the other hand your mobo has a SB700 chipset which should allow for some modest overclocking. I went from a SB600 chipset to SB750 and what a difference! Good luck.

I'm on an amd SB700 and got a 500mhz jump on my 7750.

100% stable @ 3.2ghz but anything over and it can handle it for so long then crashes and its not a lack of power, took it up from 1.425v to 1.6v and gained no stability @ 3.3ghz, i can boot in @ 3.5ghz but i thnk its the SB700 holding me back.
