Asus p5b - no hd found - but it sees it in bios setup!

New sys. Maxtor DiamondMax 21 STM380215AS 80GB 7200 RPM 2MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM

ASUS P5B LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard

During post it says "no hd found."
Once in setup, it sees the sata dvd AND sata hd, size, sectors etc. But after saving it still says no hd found.

what's goin on?

Clear cmos. See manual for how. Load defaults in bios. You may have to disconnect power cord & wait 1 min if you hot-plugged the sata drive in the mobo.

Check the boot order & hard disk order if any. Unplug every other drive but the problematic hard disk.
