i currently have a lian li case ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112100) with all stock fans and im looking at changing the the 2 120mm fans to these sycthe ones http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835185006. however i have 2 80mm and they do not make versions in that size. my question is first is that a good fan to balance airflow and loudness and second what do u reccomend for 2 80mm fans. price is not an issue. thanks

+1 for the Scythe S-Flex SFF21E. I got 3 of them myself and they're quiet indeed. Specs say 49 cfm/20.1 dBA - that's really good.

OK, if price is really not an issue, the best fan I know of is this:
http://www.ncixus.com/products/27129/NF-P12-1300/Noctua/

That is, it's a bit quieter than the SFF21E (19.8 dBA) and still pushes a little more air (92.3m3/h, that's 57 cfm if I got my math right). The price on the other hand is $33 :ouch:

Nice, you found the SFF21E already :)

I've been reading some reviews for that case and it looks like lots of buyers are happy with the fans. What bothers you about them? Do you want something quieter, or something with more airflow?

i would like more airflow but not at a huge increase in loudness. they are decent fans but i have money to spare and feel like upgrading. and can never have a cool enough case. thanks to the person that linked me to the 80mm version of those. newegg doesnt carry those and i rarely look else where.

The 120MM fans that came with my Lian-Li A-70 spin @ 1200RPM and are very quiet, surprisingly so for stock fans. I imagine the OP's came with the same type. Why are you trying to replace...need more CFM or just tinkering?

i always pick the high performance fan over quiet ones since i can just hook them up to the fan controller and it will give me the flexibility of quietness or cooling power i wanted.

What's you idea of high performance, Delta. I agree somewhat because when I bought my S-Flex fans I went with the 63.7CFM models. Most people suggested the slower ones but I thought that I can always slow them down but I can't speed them up. It's still a good idea to get a fan from a company that thinks about noise and tries to reduce it. Sleeve bearings over ball and FDB over sleeve will go a long way to making the fans quiet at any speed.
