Hello, I have an E2140 @ 2.4GHz, 1200FSB, and I have the VCore set to 1.3v in the bios, everthing else set to auto. I've seen this processor at 3GHz+, so I decided to OC to 3GHz, the problem is when I try to reach 2.6GHz or more I either get stuck at the motherboard's logo screen or just get a black screen after that. My question is do I have to play with the RAM speed and voltage to get past 2.4GHz? or maybe change the NB voltage? whenever i up the VCore i just get a black screen. These are my motherboard and RAM:

Thanks a lot for your help!

to tell you the truth your ram is what is holding you back. DDR2 800 is not going to get you far. The max FSB you can go with DDR2 800 is 1600 or 400Bus speed. If you want 3GHz you must get DDR2 1066.

on the contrary, i have ddr2 800 and it's current fsb rating is 1780mhz, and my e8500 is at 4GHz.

Some may be able to overclock some may not. I bet you had to increase your latencies.

Stranger i have an e2180 and its clocked upto 2.93 GHZ in my gigabyte g31m-s2l motherboard you have to lower ur ram bus to 266 (x2 =522, like 400 original = 800) then when ur increase ur cpu bus speed the memory also increase the bus speed , my cpu bus speed is seto to 325 and the CPU FSB is up to 1300 i cant pass more than that cuz i dont have a memory speed divider to set the timing memories equal to the cpu bus speed, only g33 or p35 and up motherboardshave those features ...i hope i help you...ohh my cpu voltage is set to 1.48 cuz in windows shows 1.45 stable (without changing randomly) cuz the natural undervoltage that occours often...

I have an e2180 at 3ghz, with 2gb of ram, heres a link (hopefully it works) im too lazy to write everything out and cpuz will do show what i need.

And just incase that didnt work heres the link

Now that, that is out of the way i recomend widening hte latencies on your ram and upping hte voltage a bit and than upping your voltage on your cpu and than start playing with your settings.

Oh and please ignore my bad grammer its early (5:30am and i havent got any sleep yet so its worse than usual, which is bad enough as is)
