SupCom? I went from single, to dual to a quad. Q6600 ran it the best, but I would suggest upping the FSB from 266 to 333.

If money isn't in the equation; QX9770.

If it is, 6600, 6700, 9300 are the next best thing.

Another vote for quad, it gets utilized with this game.

My E8400 runs it fine but quad would give you a definate boost. IMO Q6600 is the best bang for your buck right now.

Agreed I run that game on the Rig In My Sig, and the thing just flies @ 1680x1050 w/dual screens enabled.
Max details.

Saw a good increase in performance from a dual core setup.

Dual monitors are very nice on that game, unless you run it on a big plasma or LCD...then you can utilize the mini-map...only it's not so mini anymore.

WOW thanks A lot Guys! Great Help!

now Here is a Question i wanted to know for a long time,

i Have a P4 3.4GHz HT Extreme, and it Flies through Crysis and whatever but Supreme Commander, it Sucks, i play in a 10x10 with a cap of 250 units
after about 1 hour it Sucks.

So what i Really want to know is (How many Guys) can you play with, with these CPU's? where it doesn't Slow down after an hour or 5, thanks Big time Guy's!

like 5/6/8 players with 1000 Unit Cap, thanks!

Supreme commander??
How big can the cap be?
Damn now im thinking what to get first
CPu or GPu O.o

1000 Unit Cap,
But they have made a mod that lets you go to 3000 unit cap,or basically as many as you want ahah or your PC can Handle, ahaha you never played it? wow its poretty cool, thanks ! :hello:

quad core all the way, at least a q6600. i dont personally like oc, too complicated on a ga-p35-ds3l. if u want to oc, get a nvidia mobo, its so much simpler.
May 17, 2008 8:04:15 AM

Umm you must be retarded, oc'ing on the ds3l is quite simple. Hmm you seem to be pretty inconsistent with your knowledge, in another post you were talking about how a e8400 would bottleneck. interesting....

OK so im not a big Overclocker,i can but im not a System Pusher, so now what?

Then you need a quad core. If you do overclock, e8400 can give acceptable performance on higher unit counts.

quads definetly give higher performance on SCFA than duals, the games just build that way, there a topic too that shows results comparing quads and duals

Supreme Commander is one of only a handful of games that's already quad optimized.

Think about the performance difference between single core and duals as games became dual optimized, and the performance between quad and dual in this case makes sense. Eventually, it'll reflect performance of all games.

With the CoreMaximizer patch any quad core scores 10k (the maximum AFAIK) points (CPU/SIM) in SC/SCFA built in performance test.

I'm not really sure how much a 3GHz dual core gets but a 3.7GHz E6750 scores ~8600 in a friends build.

Im running Sup Con on a Phenom 9500.... It handles the units fine on a 80x80 map on 4 v 4...
Any budget on your CPU?

Cool Guy's Good Help,

OK i am looking at the E8400,Q6600,and Q9300

now the E8400 is $194.99 the Q6600 is $214.99 and the Q9300 is $274.99

so any of these you think would work the Best?

thanks For the Help!

Q6600 would be the best bang for the buck, as well as work the best. Q9300 is too crippled by low multiplier, but q9450 is a viable option for greater performance, if you have the money.

Really?

Cool its not at Newegg.com though?
any ideas one the Best place to get?
May 18, 2008 3:46:09 AM

Hay Sweet man thanks!

that is better it has the 12MB L2 i was looking for plus its 2.66MHz
Cool thanks! and only $30 more Awesome ,Man This is the Best! Computer place out there.

Can anyone play with 8 AI players with 1000 units each? for the whole fight for about 5 hours or so?
January 16, 2009 5:38:10 AM

Q6600 @ 3.6 will run ok until theres around 2000 Units...then Simulation speed will drop, however framerate drops way before then unless u got a very high end card....

I want to test an i7 @ 4GHZ to see if we can have more units before the game simulation speed goes into slow motions....

---I WANT EPIC 5000 UNIT LANS ALREADY WHERE R THE OCTO CORES???

This is not possible on todays hardware

Id calculate to keep simulation speed at 1.0 which is real time you would need more than 4 cores at over 4.5GHZ however we DO NOT know IF more cores will help keep simulation speed at realtime.

It all depends on how many cores are allocated to simulation, as in if only 1 core is for simulation u need one hugley clocked and efficient core. (plus other to handle other areas of the game)

So heres what im saying

The threads the game uses would most likely be something along lines of 1 for simulation , 1 for audio, 1 for rendering and 1 for AI

If simulation cannot be broken down into more than 1 thread then a single massively powerful core is needed just to keep sim speed at realtime (eg the 1000 u and I and many other crave in this game)

Lets just hope that with oct cores, simulation thread can be threaded through 4 dedicated cores at once :)

Maybe a massive patch or mod could achieve this...or maybe the makers of the game knew what they were doing and have made the game scale to 8 cores :)

...and one last thing

SupCom and Forgded will both CRASH when theres around 3000 units due to RAM usage hitting 1.6ish gigs

To fix this u need more than just MORE RAM

U need to edit your game INI to prevent this crash

basicaly edit game to allow 3gig plus to be used

....email me if u need to know how to fix this to keep ur epic battles from dieing
