Intel and AMD

I went into Best Buy yesterday to buy a tripod, and took
a quick look-see at the towers they had.

For one thing, I didn't see any for sale without the whole
9 yards, and that irked me. But aside from that, they all had
*one* thing in common, regardless of brand name on the box.
Can anyone guess what it was?

(Spoiler space for those wanting to mull it over.)

Every single tower had an Intel chip inside. EVERY ONE.

If I'd had more time, I'd have hunted down a manager to
explain why there were no AMD units for sale, but Ross was
waiting in the car in 100+ degree heat.

Is Best Buy in bed with Intel? Sure smells funny to me.

Well, DUH! :) And according to testimonies, it's not always willing
bedfellows.

I went into Best Buy Saturday to buy a tripod, and took
a quick look-see at the towers they had. (I live in Yuma,
Arizona, and this was our local Best Buy here in Yuma.)

For one thing, I didn't see any for sale without the whole
9 yards, and that irked me. But aside from that, they all had
one thing in common, regardless of brand name on the box.

Every single tower had an Intel chip inside. EVERY ONE.

If I'd had more time, I'd have hunted down a manager to
explain why there were no AMD units for sale, but hubby was
waiting in the car in 100+ degree heat.

An online friend led me to news reports of AMD's efforts
to stop this abuse, then I came to your site directly for news.

I will no longer shop at Best Buy, and I will never buy or
build another computer using an Intel processor. If I had the
time and energy, I'd start a nationwide boycott of stores who
do not carry computers both Intel and AMD chips.

Please keep up your work to keep the public informed. I know
a lot of people won't care, but those of us who build personal
computers as a hobby, and who try to help friends and family
choose a PC sure as heck do.
