Hi Guys,
My first post so be kind...
I've just built a new rig: E8400 core 2 Duo Processor, GeForce 8800 GTS, 2x2GB Corsair DDR2 XMS2 (800MHz), which i'm running on a Asus P5KPL-AM Motherboard.

I thought this would do fine but the bios is severely limited for overclocking, I can't adjust the memory multiplier, limited Vcore and DRAM voltages and CPU clock:DRAM frequency locked at 5:6, meaning by increasing my CPU frequency i'm inadvertantly ocing my RAM too!

Despite all sorts of combos i can't overclock past 3.47 (385x9).

I'm looking for a new motherboard with a good range of overclocking features, on a budget of £85 max...

Any suggestions?

This was taken off a mini review I found on the web about your board:

BIOS

Smart Fan disabled/quiet/optimal/performance
vCore auto/+50mv/+100mv/+150mv
vICH auto/1.5v/1.6v
vMCH auto/1.25v/1.40v
vDIMM auto/1.85v-2.24375v in 0.00625v increments
FSB 200-600MHz

Available memory multipliers vary with installed CPU's FSB
200MHz FSB = auto/667/800MHz
266MHz FSB = auto/667/800/1067MHz
333MHz FSB = auto/667/800/1000/1110MHz

It looks like you have three Memory Straps to choose from. If they aren't coming up in your Bios you may want to flash the latest Bios (0502 dated 2-5-09) if your not using it already.

The problem I'm having is that even when I set the RAM Frequency to 800MHz (near enough a 1:1 ratio) it ignores what I've set it to and overides with a 5:6 ratio, increasing my RAM as I up the CPU Frequency...
Already checked and I'm using the latest BIOS...
Not sure what to do other than get a more oc friendly motherboard...

Ram speed always changes when you change FSB, regardless what ratio its on. You cannot have fsb of less than 400Mhz with ram running at 800 and on 1:1 ratio, thats impossible. What I think happens in your situation is that you set your memory to 800(which on your cpus stock fsb of 333 is achived via 5:6 ratio) and then when you up your fsb it takes the ram over 800, eventually causing failure to boot. Go to your bios and select the ram speed thats double of your fsb - and that will be your 1:1 ratio. As you reach fsb 400Mhz your ram will automatically run at 800
