The problem is that when entering Windows the HDD stop/start and the sistem freeze, or the sistem is shuting down. The simptoms are the same if i unplug the optical devices and one of HDD's.
The same system work flawless with my old CPU INTEL CELERON 1.7GHz/128kb L2 cache/ 400MHz FSB.
The P4 CPU works fine with a MSI Motherboard.
Please advise if there is a incompatibility betwen P4 Prescott/1Mb L2 cache/800FSB and the P4P800SE Motherboard.
Close. If the cpu was incompatible, the pc wouldn't have powered on and posted. Much less boot into windows. It's something else. Is it a fresh windows install?
Sounds like maybe it's overheating? That is just about how long it takes a Prescott to start getting too warm. Double check your heatsink and fan to be sure you have them mounted correctly, and the fan is working.
I got same motherboard and cpu and it works fine. Check HDD cables, and if possible try another HDD with same motherboard and cpu. Once I had same problem, checked all the wires and at the end found HDD was short circuit so replaced HDD.

Thank's
The issue is a known problem between the Prescott cpu and XP SP2. I know the link below i'm referring you to shows C0 as the stepping with an issue but that is false. I have an E0 3.4ghz prescott and have experienced the array of odd lockups.
I went through all my hardware with a detailed testing method and well couldn't find any hardware problem. So i began searching for prescott specific issues and bingo. My board happens to be a Asus P4P800 SE as well I even reverted back 1 bios level to see if it would help.
