I thought it was SATA and just ordered one and got it and it doesn't fit.

the model number is:

IC25N040ATCS04-0

I got a SATA 2.5 just now and the bar is longer. On it i see it says ATA/IDE.

I thought sata was flat and the IDE was two rows of pins that stick out.

This has flat across and on one end it has a very short row of pins. So what do i need?

http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b191/jtballer3/Picture39.jpg maybe I just need a 3.5 instead of 2.5?

From looking at that image, your drive appears to be a Hitachi deskstar IDE/ATA drive so you will need another IDE/ATA/PATA drive. In teh image you provided, it looks like there is an adapter over the 2 rows of pins found on a PATA drive. Guessing you should be be able to remove the adapter and put it on the new drive.

Hope that helps

The adapter should just pull off. Personally, I've never seen an adapter glued in place but doesn't mean it won't be.
Once you've removed the adpter, the two rows of pins should be visable and you can plug into a PATA 2.5" enclosure.

Also, misread the drive label. It's a hitachi travelstar (the deskstar is the 3.5" equivalent)
