Hello,

I need suggestions to pick a motherboard for amd athlon 64 x2 6000+. My major concern is the high thermal power of 125w. I am looking at a budget mobo and find the BIOSTAR A740G (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] ar%2ba740g) seem good. Any one knows if these two will work out?

This one supports up to 1g HT. I guess the CPU is not pushed to its nonOC limit. Correct me if i'm wrong.

RE: amd athlon 64 x2 6000+.
THIS CPU is not included in the CPU SUPPORT LIST for that board = BIOSTAR A740G

Strange - the 6400 is on the list. BUT the highest phenom supported is the 9650 - but no 9750, or 9950.

No info given re mosfet or multiphase power handling. The cpu list therefore suggests low power cpu's (???????) (!)

Very low price. And this is the first I have ever heard of a 740 chipset.

Fascinating captain.
