Seagate 7200.12 uses just 2 platters for 1TB, Hitachi uses 3, so the Seagate is almost certainly faster.

I wasn't aware people still bought deathstars anyway.

Seagate .12 1 TB drives do have only two platters. But until I am certain that they have truly solved their .11 drive firmware problems, I am sticking to WD. So right now, my vote is "Neither".
