Can't access D: partition

I have a laptop 2.5inch drive and i have connected it to my xp machine via a cable and the drive appears but i cant access the d: partition?

Good point. When I built this PC I was freaking out because my WD Caviar Black (G:\) wasn't being recognized by Vista in 'My Computer'. I knew it came un-formatted but I thought that was how you were supposed to format it. Luckily it took me a whole of 10 minutes to go into diskmgmt.msc and format the drive.
