Here we go http://www.vr-zone.com/articles/De [...] /5826.html and http://www.vr-zone.com/articles/Ge [...] /5828.html It doesnt look too monster and power eating
Anyone able to read Chinese?
nice, but those are pretty low core and shader clocks, my 9800gtx is at 770/1925/1200.
I heard that there are 55nms coming out in july, is that true? i have my step up until july lol.
I think July is way too early tho, sorry. Ive heard the refresh may come late 3rd qtr or 4qtr
That looks sexy, can't wait to get 2 of them for my rig.
I dont think you can compare any previous nVidia card clock for clock or any other thing with these cards. Its not a true new arch, but so far from the G80 it isnt funny

Then again the 2900XT was shorter than the 8800GTX and we all know how performance/power consumption related to it's size.
True, sometimes big things (power consumption) do come in smaller packages. I was mainly looking at it as a nice looking card. Ive heard anything from 247 to 147 for power usage. I think the 147 doesnt include the mobos 75 watts myself

I have to agree on the nice looking. Nvidias cards look quite nice lately. I don't know how well their cooling solutions work though.
Im sure you know this card is pushing the limits. Only one other power option would be 2 8pins for a card at this point. This is going to eat power, and hopefully eat games and fps as well
July for the 55nm refresh is way too early. It has only just taped out, and will likely be 3-4 months at best.
One thing that hsa me sold to Nvidia over Ati is the way the card looks.I mean just look at it.Its so easy on my eyes all wrapped in a stealthy looking package.I would buy the 9800gtx anyday not because of how it performs, but the way it looks.ATI should try to do the same too.the only current ATI card thats cools on my eyes are the HIS ICEq 3 versions.

If its a true new architecture and not just a slight revamp like the 9800 series, the clocks will not relate at all to current cards. It would be like comparing the clock on the Pentium D to the clock on the Core2.

I think it looks like a boring black slab that couldn't possibly hold anything interesting inside... quite bland...
maybe because it is so black, it blends to the background and hides all the details. Ati's vivid red is much better, even Ferraris look better in red lol
jay you beat me to it this time.the GTX280 looks very promising especially the 512bit and 1gb ram.in that pic it just say max AF is 16X
wow nice looking card... hopefully the HS doesn't suck... I might wanna get an after market cooler instead if it does suck

I tend to be the opposite. After unwrapping the box and installing the card, the only time I see it again are either when upgrading something else or having a clean, or ultimately selling it. For the remainder 99.9% of the time I really don't give a stuff what it looks like.

God that GTX 280 looks liek a gaming console in-itself. I bet its bigger than the Wii.

Why should it matter how it looks, I could give a fairy about that, You dont even see the card 99% of the time anyway.
i guess you have got a open window in your system The_Abyss.i dont blame you.
but nowadays almost every thing perform similar to others.only looks differentiate them.style is what everyone whats to achieve.but then again there are people who are after performance and they will have like 8 3000rpm fan in there case.and some who want quietness with all black out side with slow spinning fan or watercooling.
it just really what you desire i think.and to prove my point further when you get some friend over whodont know what you talking about when you mention names like 9800GTX Crucial ballistx, the only thing that will make them WOW is the look of your PC and performance tend to be second.
i have build so many pc for different people.most of them will say i want it to have fancy fan controller and cold cathode and so on.you get it now?

well the Wii is thicker and according to your other reply the performance between the Wii and the GTX280 is no where near comparable!
I see.
I don't think any of those specs are possibly accurate. GPUZ could be mis reading or giving incorrect info.

Looks pretty long, hard to say the length of that motherboard but I think the card might be 12"?
edit: at least they didn't put the power connectors on the end of the card.
shadow... whats wrong with that picture?
nothing seems out of order except the gpu clock where it says 0
shadow you seem not so positive about the GTX280.i think those picture is accurate since nvidia kept the GTX280 project so secret people over at GPU-Z couldnt program the ultility to recognise the card properly.but the default clock is read from the BIOS which says the clock speed by default.
so i think it is accurate.plus the bandwidth the fillrate and such is calculated theoratically by the running speed anyway.so if the guys cant get the default figures how can they work it out.
the gtx 260 might end up with 210 sp!

wel cheaper card is always gonna get limited.but not so same with the ati card as they just change the clock and rip people off with the higher speed card.
3850/3870=same SP but just different clock speed for core and memory
tell me if im wrong.
That is very interesting... Of course I am looking for a Card to replace my old 8800GTS320, So I believe that it is better for people with old cards to upgrade based on speed rather than price/perf. For example: when the 8800GT's came out, it had amazing price/perf, although it only had %10-%20 performance increase over the existing 8800GTS320mb; not justifying the upgrade. So for a person like me I would think that upgrading to the fastest possible card with in reason and budget would be the ultimate choice.
get the GTX280.but side note:YOU GOT DEEP POCKET?OR YOUR CREDIT CARD AVAILABLE?LOL!!!
wouldnt the gtx 260 be a good price/performance ratio?
I have a window in my case and I really don't care what the 5% of the card that I can see, looks like
Itd be better. Its looking like if rumors are true, the 260 is about 20% slower than the 280, so 280 is 600$ and 260 450$, looks a little better
did nvidia release the price of the cards? all i hear is 599-649$ for gtx 280 and 449$ for gtx 260. true or false?
there is a massive mark up from company charging for those card.but businesses is not stupid, unless they are very confident about the card's performance they wont charge such high price for the cards.so i think the GTX280 is very quick.but does it really worth that price?im not so sure!:S
^ well the 4870 x2 is 550... so either its on par with the gtx 280 and they are being competitive price wise... or its not as good... which I'm beginning to suspect
I think ATI is going in low at first. When those first supplies run out, theyll crank up the monies
