I am building a system.

AMD 9850 CPU
ASUS M3A32 Motherboard.

I will be running Vista Home Premium 64.

And I game mostly. I will go min for 4 gigs of ram, is it a waste to get 8 Gigs?

Yes or no and why?

For typical usage, 4gb is enough for now. I got 8gb only because I'm lazy and wanted 8gb now instead of getting it later, since it's easiest to oc or tightening timings on identical sticks, and the same model may be out of production later.

Im running Vista Ultimate x64 with 4gb, runs fine, i usually have the entire adobe creative suite running and it does not effect me at all, honestly 4 gig is fine, more than enough.

Superfetch!!!

Yeah, 4 is enough, but 8 is more fun :)

While some consider it a waste that vista will use ALL the ram you can give it. Most of it will be used to preload apps you use often(if you use more ram, extra memory will be freed from the cache[super fetch]) for faster load times. No point in lots of ram if you do not use it.
