i really want to enable AAM on my hard drives, by default they are off.
i have 4 hard drives as followed:

2x Western Digital WD800AAJS 80GB Caviar Blue
1x Western Digital WD2500AAKS 250GB Caviar Blue
1x Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.B 1024GB

basically my 2x 80gbs in raid, and using them for OS / Program files, and the remaning 2 larger drives for storage. I want to enable AAM on them.

because im using raid, my sata mode is set to raid but to enable AAM, none of the utilities detected my hard drives, so i had to set the sata mode to IDE (I tried AHCI which didnt work)

so with ide mode on,

I tried HD Tune Pro 3.5, but the settings are disabled

I tried using Hitachi Feature tool, but the AAM Settings weren't there

I tried using MHDD 4.6, i could change the AAM value to lowest, and i could hear a great difference, but after reboot it resets itself to its original value.

i've ran out of ideas on how to enable AAM, so please could someone help me
my mobo is an ASUS P5k-E Wifi Edition

and i read in a couple of places that asus resets aam to off for some random reason
is that true? if so is there a way to stop it?

thanks in advance

Have you tried using Western Digital's drive tools to configure them.
