Hey guys, sry for making a thread that might have been discussed scarcely around but i had a question bugging me for the past few days and i thought maybe someone with alot more experience then me can give me a satisfying answer. So here goes.

How important is it to have memory running 1:1 with the cpu for gaming ? I picked a q9450 that has a 333 bus, and i am going to OC it to 400 bus, giving me 3.2 ghz. The only problem is picking the memory. If i pick 800 mhz ddr2 i will have a perfect 1:1 ratio, but i wanted the corsair dominator series coming only for 1066 mhz. That's 533 bus and i will never be able to bring my q9450 to 533 bus, that would mean oc'ing it to 4.2 ghz and it's too much for me and my xigmatek s1284. I also heard that running any other ratio then 1:1 results in repeated gutting effects (couldn't name it otherwise, something like small "hangs" that become rather annoying after a while)

Thx in advance for your replies :)

You can underclock your memory. There is little advantage to running above 1:1, but I've never heard of performance degradation from someonw who rigorously measured performance.

If you do underclock your memory, you may be able to get better timings out, but I'd recommend ddr2-800. There is little reason to pay the price premium for more.

Thx for the reply, thing is i found a pc store near me that has a big discount on the corsair dominator 1066, that comes with the memory cooler included. The price is ~150 $ compared to 800 memories which are ~140$ so i thought for 10$ is would be worthy getting them, hell i guess only the cooler is 10$ xD.
