My computer shuts down into some kind of save mode when i reach windows at boot. If i remove my 2ndary HDD it fixes itself, i can boot normally and windows starts up as usual. I tried removing other devices, but its always when i remove the hdd it starts up normally, from time to time i can boot up with all my hardware in, but it seldome works.

I have a 600w power supply, my computer specs are below.

nVIDIA 8800 gts 320mb
2gb 800mhz ram
athlon 6000+ x2
raptor 36gb hdd (boot)
western digital 200gb hdd (2ndary)

Is it a power problem?

Did you download SP3 by chance?

Has it always done this or is this new?

If you have a OS on both drives and they are both masters there might be some conflicts.

Check the jumpers if there are any.

Even if he has an AMD build & PS3, it wouldn't shut down. Instead, it would crash to BSOD. Even then, it only affects HP's NEW pcs with both Intel & AMD drivers.

Google "easy cleaner" & "cureit". Tab F8 at boot. Go to safe mode. Clean your registry & do a full scan of malware. If you can't boot to safe mode, it may be game over. Personally I have a few live XP that boots off the CD/DVD. :D Don't ask me where to get them. I'd be banned if I told you. You can make one yourself with this & XP install disk on a working pc.
