I HAVE A DVD RW DRIVE BY ASUS. I CAN PLAY CD'S JUST FINE BUT WHEN I PLAY A DVD I GET PICTURE BUT NO SOUND. I'VE CHECKED THE SETTINGS IN THE DEVICE MANAGER, I 'VE TRIED IT WITH DIGITAL SOUND DISABLED AND ENABLED, NO HELP. THIS DRIVE WORKED BEFORE, I'VE JUST PUT A NEW MOTHERBOARD, CPU AND MEMORY. I'VE TRIED THREE DIFFERENT MEDIA PROGRAMS WITH SAME RESULT.

What program are you using to play the DVD?

Check your cables and make sure they are seated correctly.

Lastly go to the dvd drives website and search for the firmware update for that drive. This is a good idea to keep up to date anyway as it will enable the drive to be compatible with more disks.
