so what should I do? I was planning on building a new computer and getting a 9800 GX2 with plans in a couple of months adding a 2nd GX2. Is the GTX 280 going to be superior to the 9800 GX2 by alot? Dont know if I should wait

the launch is so close so I'd wait...

Is it just me or are the fillrates not as high as I expected them to be? OCed, my 8800GTS has the same texture fillrate, and 2/3 of the pixel fillrate. I'm not sure how this translates to real-world performance, but it seems lower than I thought it'd be. I know it's a change in architecture and all, but idk. Are the SPs that much different in the GTX280 vs the 8800 series?

the GTX 280 will have 240 Stream processors. Yes it will beat a 9800GX2 by quite a bit. A GTX 280 is basically a die shrink of the G92 with double the stream processors, and twice the memory bandwidth.

Do not buy a GX2, wait and spend the 600 on a GTX 280. You also will not have issues with the SLI scaling.

its still on the 65nm process though, so its not a shrink.

:S... I am waiting to see the price drop after the release of the 260 and 280 ...maybe I will buy a 260 if it's not too expensive :P
