Windows Vista OEM Product Key can\'t be reused?

I am trying to activate my Windows Vista Home Premium, When I put in the CD Key I get a response that reads, "The product key appears to be a default key and cannot be use for activation. I do not understand why I am getting this message! I got the activation key off the back of my computer, maybe you can help me??

You should be given an option to call Microsoft in order to activate. Do that, and explain the situation; they should be able to sort you out.
