Update all your motherboard and chipset drives from Gigabytes website. CD is often old.

Also, Did you flash your BIOS with the latest BIOS? Most P35 boards need a BIOS update to fully understand how to work with an E8400 CPU. That shouldn't cause your freezing problem, but just an aside.

An idea. Have you tried disabling the onboard nic in the bios? If so, does the issue stop? If that works, I'd leave it disabled and just go get an add in nic card that plugs into a pci slot. You can get one online for a few bucks usually. I think the one I bought from officemax locally though was only about 20 maybe a little under for a 10/100 card. But for most people, that will be more than enough.

I have the same problem on a PC that worked fine for 2 years:
Intel 3GHZ Dual Core
1GB DDR666 RAM
FSB = 200Mhz
Multiplier = 15
Frequency = 3000Mhz
Gigabit LAN

Now I first have to disable my LAN before I unplug the cable, which is a real pain. :cry: I am sure this has nothing to do with Hardware or BIOS settings, but rather a software problem.
