i just ordered my new system and im curious. what do u think- more or less- what my 3dmark06 score wil be for my new system before i overclock? heres the specs

GeForce 9800 GTX 512MB
Intel q9300
4gb (2x2gb) G.Skill DDR 1066 ram
P5E motherboard (x38)

if your semi-knowledgable, take a stab at it, im COMPLETELY unsure what imma get so if you read this--why not take a educated guess?

I'd guess 15-17k, but 3dmark doesn't score one system vs. another system very well, it's better to show you changes to your system after a baseline score has been given. So don't worry if it's not in any of the ranges that people on here give you.

If it helps any, my system in my sig got 8.5k before my OC and 12.5k after my OC.

My system overclocked
AMD phenom 9600 vanilla b2 at 2.806 GHz
Visiontek 3870 in crossfire 1# GPU 837 Memory 1197 2# GPU 837 Memory 1170
Motherboard MSI-K9A2 HT link 2196 MHz NB 2196 Mhz
OCZ 2x1GB pc2-7800 DRAM Frequency 488 Mhz

I scored 14685 in 3DMARK06.
Before i overclock i was in the 9000's, but with the TLB patch enabled.
You should be in the 11-12K.
I don't like your video card though you should of gotten a 8800gtx or waited for the 9900's. Your system should score high overclocked with a little help from water :) . Oh and what os you running. Me seeing 2X2GB has me thinking vista home premium 64-bit.

Q6600 + g92 8800gts gets 15.5k after oc, so your system should get around 13-14k after oc. Due to q9300's low multiplier on p35's fsb bottlenecking cpu oc and lowering cpu component score.

Though games today are gpu limited, not cpu limited anyway, so don't worry about it.

Ummm....

Between 0 and 16k.
May 19, 2008 3:28:25 AM

^^Dagger...the Q9300 is better than Q6600 and the 9800gtx is better than 8800gts---so...why would i getter a lower score after oc than you did? plus the P5E is a x38 mobo, not p35....that combined with higher ram 1066 at stock would result me in a better score wouldnt it?

Oh sorry, I have a habit of not reading very well before I post. I thought you asked what you could get out of that system if you OC'd. Yeah, I agree with the 12-14k if your going stock. Sorry i can't read :p

im gonna guess...14,000-14,500... :)  let me know if i win a prize. haha
May 19, 2008 3:55:01 AM

hmm...nevermind, i take that back...14,500-14,900. i have a similar setup on my other computer, not a 9800gtx, but a 3870x2.

anzguy..^^haha...i guess i can post later on what i acutally do get when i install everything...but the only price you would get is a 2 thumbs up and bragging privledges over everyone else.

ALot of people would disagree with the q9300 beieng better then the q6600. You do have a proper board to ovet clock but some peoople rent able to hit the fsb that that cpu needs.

I think buying a p35 and a q6600 and ddr2 800 woulda been the bet price performance.

Could of saved $200+ dollars for the same performance.

I think around 10-12K. I mean its very cpu dependent, and the q9300 is at the bottom of the list out of the new Intel line.

Unless your overclock it:)  Your mobo will help out alot!

Here is what you can get if You oc the CPU to match a Q6600 at 3.5, but then again the reviewer is using DDR3.

It all depends on the Resolution:)

Like every1 else said, these count for nothing.

The Radeon X2 outperforms the GX2 in 3dmark by enough, but when it comes to gaming its not even close for most games:p . It stands around the 8800 Ultra

WHAT I FINALLY GOT--12,900 K-----THANKS GUYS
June 5, 2008 4:43:46 PM

12,900 is not bad I get 16500 ish with a Q6600 @ 3.15 and 2 8800GT XXX(670/975) so I'm sure with a decent OC you should pull in 15K
