XFX 8800GS. U think i can play crysis at a medium detailed level on a resolution of 1650x1050. or high on a resolution of 1650x1050. thanks for helping me
The 8800GS is a good card, especially at the price it's selling for right now. However if playing Crysis at 1650X1050 is on your list of priorities you should go with a better card like the 8800GT 512 or the 8800GTS 512 or better yet wait the 2 weeks or so and check out the new GPUs. Benchmarks i've seen show the 8800GS at about 22 fps for Crysis on high at that resolution. Here's a chart i unashamedly stole that pauldh posted a while back http://en.expreview.com/2008/04/02 [...] p/?page=13

The 8800GS can do 16x10 medium no problem in Crysis. It's a great card for the money, although the evga 8800GS is better because of clock speeds and the variable speed cooler. Hard to beat getting COD4 for free though with the XFX.
Honestly 16x10 high is a struggle for any single gpu card. Look at that chart, and you see the 8800 Ultra only scored 33 fps and that was the GPU benchmark bat. Actual gameplay, performance will be much lower than that in chunks of the game. Crysis is a game of compromises. Best bet of cranking all settings is with multiple GPU's (SLI). Otherwise, you need to either reduce settings or lower resolution. Still, if you don't mind some slowdowns, a single 8800GT or GTS would do a better job at 16x10 all high than the 8800GS. And if you can overclock them, better yet. . But if those are out of budget, by all means the 8800GS is outstanding for $100. The evga 8800GS has faster mem chips and can OC further.

er forgot 2 tell u abt 1 think. i'm running xp. n oso i am living in malaysia. so there will be limited brands to choose. i can tell u da website 2 choose da cards. go to www.lowyat.net oso my budget is rm400. nothing more and nothing less.
With either the 9600GT or 8800GS I think you will need to lower the resolution if you want to keep all details on high. 1680x1050 all high is too much for these cards. Of course everyone has their own opinion on what's playable framerates. But at 1680x1050 I say these are medium detail cards not high details.
Edit: These are good cards. It's just crysis is so very demanding the 9800GTX struggles at all high details and your 1680x1050 resolution. Better to be warned now than spend your money and have the card not meet your expectations (not make you happy).

I can play 1440x900 high detail and get about 38fps with a 8800gs. At 1680x1050 it would probably push 30fps or so or even little less. That's with EVGA card that tends to overclock better than xfx and every patch and latest official drivers though.
Medium detail would be complete smoothness though.

I would take the Asus TOP. I thing they have faster memory on those. XFX are weird because they have memory only rated for 700mhz but some of them do 900mhz.
