No Signal On Startup Just Blank

Hi I've bought a New Hardrive and Attached it (IDE) and Had started the computer but the only thing that seems to not work is the screen it seems to give me no signal whenever i boot up the computer

160GB Western Digital Hardrive PATA 8MB Cache (New One)
40GB Hitachi Desktar (Old One)

And If your wondering I have not transfered any of the files because the old one was basically garbage thats why I went to futureshop and bought a hole new one to see if it would work

And also I do not have a Xp installation Cd it came preloaded but there is a product key on the side of the computer

System Specs:

- Windows Xp Home Edition SP1 or SP2 (Not sure)
- 160GB Hardrive Western Digital 7200RPM (New One)
- 40GB Hardrive HITACHI Deskstar 7200RPM (Old One)
- 128MB Ram Sticks (Dell)
- Desktop
- Toshiba Lithium Battery 3v

If you don't have the XP disc, and the old install was borked, how were you planning to install windows on the new drive?
