Hi,

What are the best mobos AM2+ with the 780G chipset?

I want to upgrade with a graphics card (HD4800 series) in the furute.

If it´s not asking too much i´d like a recommendation for the memories (DDR2 800 or DDR2 1066 and the brands)

Also, do you think Samsung Spinpoint F1 500Gb is a good HD?

I think I´ll buy a X2 5400 now and upgrade to a Deneb in the future. So i think I´ll buy DDR2 1066.

What mobo do you have?

Do you like Mushkin? And Corsair XMS2?

I have an ECS 1780gm-a, it was great, but I think it died, Plus the sound chip they use on it has awful base, go with something with the standard realtek. Mushkin is awesome, I have 2 gigs of their cheap 40 dollar stuff, a 3 gig stick and it runs fine and is 1.8 volts ! the ECS was super fast, but get the extended warranty if it is an option.

That 5400+ is really good and can play crysis at 25 fps at 1024 x 1280 on high with an 8800 gt or gts !

it also runs really cool with the stock cooler, mine was 31c and 38c under 100 percent load with stock hsf !

I have the Foxconn 780G board and love it.

I bought it for my HTPC in the den, to run my 42" plasma, for movies, music, web surfing, bill pay, AND MAYBE some light gaming.

So, picked up a 5000 Black edition for $75, and 2x1gb of OCZ pc6400 for $18, and off to the races.

Running Vista Ultimate 32 bit, I oc'd the black edition from 2.66 to 3.1 on stock voltage. Integrated graphix does movies etc fine, but wanted to game some, so picked up a 3870 for $99.

Since my 42" plasma is native at 1024x768, I can even run Crysis pretty respectably.

Not bad on a $69 MB.

Did spend $39 on a sweet Thermaltake Wings RS case (free ship to my local Radio Shack store) to match my other piano black components.

Running 37c on the OC with an Artic Freezer HS.

The 3870 is a gigabyte with the zalmon cooler already installed, stays under 55c loaded, and with a 110mhz oc on the core and 120 on the memory.

WAY exceeded my expectations.

The 4xxx series do not support the hybrid graphix yet, but will in the future. Also, Vista only for hybrid, allowing the dedicated gpu to spin down when not needed and only use the rather robust integrated gpu.

Thanks Granite3.

What do you think about this configuration:

* Asus M3A78 Pro
* Athlon X2 5000 (or 5400)
* Corsair XMS2 DDR2 1066 (waiting for Deneb)
* Samsung Spinpoint F1 500Gb
