I got a new monitor, a used Viewsonic VA720-2 LCD. After connecting it to my PC, installing the drivers and making sure that ATI's Catalyst Control Center (My video card is an ATI HD 3650) correctly identified the display I have found that I can't launch Counter-Strike or Battlefield 1942 any longer. I get a dark, blank screen and can hear the sound from the game. I alt-tab back to Windows and kill the process in the Task Manager.
I found out that if I override the video settings, I can get Counter-Strike to launch in any mode but OpenGL, but they all look awful. So there appears to be some problem between my new display and OpenGL.
What can I do to make OpenGL and my new monitor work together?
EDIT: I'm running Vista Home Premium
Thanks!
Joe

The monitor probably has nothing to do with it, it's the drivers you used with the, most likely, plug n' play monitor that is causing the problems. Try uninstalling those, and see if that fixes your problems

I uninstalled the driver, Device Manager now shows "Generic PnP Display", rebooted. Still same problem.
