Can somebody please help me overclock my system?

Here are my specs:

Biostar TA790GX-A2
4096MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHZ (2x2048)=8gb
AMD Phenom X4 9950 Black Edition 4MB Socket AM2+
Xigmatek HDT-S1283
2x Sony 20X DVDRW SATA Retail
Sapphire HD 3850
2x120MM Case Fan (1 rear, 1 front)
650 Watt 20/24 Pin ATX Power Supply w/SATA
Barracuda 250gb SATA 7200rpm Drive
Hitachi 500GB Serial ATA HD 7200/16MB/SATA-3G
RaidMax XForce Gaming Case Black

Everytime I try to do it my system freezes.

also why isn't my fans showing up on Speedfan.

Start small. Reset cmos or load set-up defaults, and then bring up multiplier by 0.5, disable cpu spread spectrum, reboot. If it doesn't work, then flash your BIOS and retry. If it still doesn't work, then there's something wrong with your hardware.
