In the last two months my pc has started getting hard freezes/blue screens in Windows XP and Vista. At times I have had dual boot xp/vista, then just xp, and now I only use vista. It generally happens after my pc has been on for 6-24 hours.

Is there a log file somewhere that will help me find the source of the crash in vista? It must be a hardware failure of some type.

Edit: Heres the minidump... Maybe this will help. You must need some kind of utility to make sense of this thing. :/

Also, heres my hardware config. I use a different HDD now as my main. I have overclocked the video card and processor before. The processor is still overclocked to 3.26Ghz instead of 3ghz.

Right click "My Computer"
Click on "Properties"
Click on "Advanced System Settings"
In the "Settings" menu in the "Startup and Recovery" area
uncheck the "Automatically Restart" check box.

The next time the system BS's, write down the Stop error code and Google it for more information about the cause.

Thanks for the tip badge; I have no real problem at the moment, but this advice with the auto restart could come in handy one day...

While waiting for your next bluescreen, run a memory test, just to make sure that its not RAM causing your error.

I'm getting the nividia blue screen of death. nvlddmkm.sys - Stop code 0x000000116. I have a 8800GTS. Look at my specs above.

Vista SP1, all updates, latest video card drivers.

It only seems to happen when I leave my PC idle for hours. Unlike others who have problems in video games and stuff. Sheesh... Should I get an ATI card? Gahhh...

Nvida drivers are here. Find the driver for your video card/operating system. Download the driver and install it.
