lol what an off topic thread... grizz grate post " and a little more complicated when the world is a sphere"... lol

Interesting news..

A very reliable source on another forum, who been giving out hints pre NDA, for while now has said performance of the HD4850 is very impressive, so impressive that in crossfire it beats GTX 280 in Crysis, AOC and Vantage ( all the details he is giving at the moment )..

Crysis @ 1920x1200 Very High / No AA is getting 38fps on a GTX 280 ( 140% faster than an Ultra )

Basically the HD4850 is a bit faster than Ultra @ 1920 x 1200 in Crysis

Above leaked benches of the GTX 280 came out and this guy ORB responded with

Quote:
This score in Crysis are authentical ... i got very similar FPS on my GTX 280 ...

GTX 280 is not brutal powerfull card! performance is good, but i expected many more ....

According testing of Radeon HD4850 in CF i can say - radeons are better then GTX 280!

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showpost.php?p=3047...

This how todays high end performs in that test

Evga Nforce 780i
Qx9650
2x EVGA 8800 GTX SLI
4GB Crucial blastix 800mhz
Win Vista x64 Ultimate

GTX 280 is 50% faster than 2 x 8800gtx in Sli with slower cpu ( Quad @ 2.66 )

Vantage benches have been leaked on the same site, AOC benches have been leaked on an unoffical AOC forum ( no figures, trusted member says single card performs better than Gtx )

Still leaks, we had a bunch of people saying this and that last time around.

I'll wait for the official story, because right now I don't trust any of the peple who have early cards to have optimized drivers yet.

Also I want to see a broader range of performance, because given a small slice of the picture I could've shown the HD2900 in a much better light last time while not fudging the numbers just selectively picking the cherries.

Exactly. That and you have the people with the cards trying to downplay performance too. One of these G280 users has repeatedly said that the G280 is disappointing, well, he may have gotten the placebo drivers heheh

early benches probably arent trustable.they tend to play with the results making the cards king or sore losers.but its nice to see some glipmse of it in action tho........

Oh be nice. I always thought that us Americans were very much like Aussies, but with a different accent. We both had states that started as penal colonies. We both had ancestors kicked out of Europe for one reason or another. We both have traditions involving horses and cattle (well maybe sheep for you guys, the sheep here led to range wars, sadly enough).

The only Australian I actually knew said that Texas was a lot like Australia, except with Christmas in the wrong season. So, lighten up, we're both the kind of nations that the Europeans hate to invite home for a visit, but when we do visit, we set things right more often than not.

Now, how does Canada fit in? What about New Zealand? Poorer relations of the more vigorous colonies? Well, not in the arts. Canada gave the world SCTV and NZ gave us Peter Jackson. Can't beat that.

Yes, it just doesn't fit on 4 elephants riding on a turtle the way a simply flat round world does. Well, if multiverse theory is correct, maybe there's a world like that with different initial conditions leading to different physical laws? :kaola:

Early benchies give Nvidia a boost in TWIMTBP games but ATI optimizes their drivers and catch up before too long, plus Nvidia can't always get the preferred framerates right out of the starting gate, no matter what they offer a game company.

I remember the days when we'd drive up to Niagara Falls just to fill my friend's car with gas by the Imperial gallon and stock up on Molsen. That was back in the 70's.

Now, I prefer Scottish ales, but occasionally go Canadian if I end up at Bennigans. Not that I drink all that much at my age, but when I do, it's quality.

I feel sorry for people stocking up on Bud at the supermarket. Do they really know what they're doing?
