I'm planning out a rig right now that will probably be a Q9550, 8 GIG ram, maybe 750HD with FSB @ 1333. I'm trying to choose a Video Card - I heard that a Video Card can increase the overall performance in regard to loading times/ watching dvd's/ videos of the net - I'm not a gamer, and not into overclocking yet, but I want a super fast system - wondering how much more a GTX9800 would me get the rig performance I want? I'm open to suggestions for other kinds of cards that may be better too if anyone has any suggestions...: )
when exactly do you need your system?if its after june 25,the new ATIs will be out and you might want one.if not, throw the gtx into the dustbin and get the gts.its one hell of a card that makes the gt and the gtx look like plain losers...and if watching movies are your priority, skip the 8800gts and the 9800gtx.purecinema that they have is nothing but pure crap.youd be better of with a hd3870 that has AVIVO.
there are really not much difference between 88gts & 98gtx, since they share the similar core (G92). I'd get the GTX if the price difference isn't too much.
If at all possible, don't buy anything till the end of june. Either the gtx 260 will knock the price of the 9800gtx/8800 G92 down, or the ATI 4850 will turn out to be better (and possibly cheaper) than either.
^ no... the GTX 260 is supposed to compete with the 4870 X2.... but in all likelihood the GTX 280 is going to compete with the 4870 x2... either way the gtx 260 is going to rape the 4850... but for 200 $ more its probably not worth the cost increase for the performance increase...
but then again maybe the gtx 200's are more than they appear... either way i'm going to wait till early 09 to decide simply cause i won't have the cash, and the gt200b is coming out which is supposed to eliminate the power/heat issues with the original gt200
