yo,

I'm a gamer that has been out of the loop for almost two years. I've no idea how the video card market has changed, what's out there, what's a good deal, etc. and honestly; I don't have the time to spend hours researching the topic, so I'm hoping your feedback can help me find the right direction.

The scenario:

this is my system - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc [...] R1002_USEN

I'd like to run games such as Crysis and these are some of the graphics cards I've found:

What do you think would work best considering price/performance ratio?

thank you.

Hard to say if your looking at used cards. The best bang for buck in retail right now are the 8800GT or 8800GTS-512MB, as well as the Radeon 3870. If you can find a used GT for ~$125-150 Id say thats a reasonably good deal. Id give more advice but I cant see craigslist from work.

Reply to B-Unit

I had a long post of recommedations written out, but B-unit hit the nail on the head pretty much.
Now here is your problem, since you have an HP, you need to find out what power supply you have.
MORE THAN LIKELY, your power supply is not going to be powerful enough to run any kind of GPU you need to run Crysis very well at all.
It takes a really strong GPU to run Crysis, and they need at least a 550 watt power supply that gives you 24-28 amps on the 12 volt rails to run them. I don't think your HP is even going to come close with it's power supply.

^+1. Generally I would recommend a EVGA, XFX, or BFG, but the ECS one is better than getting used.
