Hi guys
Me and my friend both recently upgraded.
We both basically bought everything new except a hard drive. And we both formatted recently.
Noting overclocked.
Both running Vista

The specs:
Q6600
4 gig DDR2 800
9800 GTX
550W PSU
GIGABYTE S Series P35+ICH9R
Have 4 hard drives
160,320,400,500 ( Vista installed on the 160 )

The thing is my friend bought exactly the same except the hd's and the graphics card
Friends specs:
Q6600
4 gig DDR2 800
7800 GTX
550W PSU
GIGABYTE S Series P35+ICH9R
Have 3 hard drives
320,400,500 ( Vista installed on the 320 )

The main differences is he has 7800 GTX and i have 9800 GTX.
Obviously mine is supposed to preform mush better.
But it doesn't.
Vista test

I compared my bios to his and the only difference was that my "CPU Clock Ratio" is set to 6 where his is set to 9.
6 = 1.6 GHz
9 = 2.4 GHz ( what it should be )
If i try to change it and save and quit it just changes itself back to 6.
( We have exact same bios version )
C1E is disabled still changes back.
Must i take the CPU and motherboard in or is there some way to fix this myself ?
thanks

Update to latest bios. Or if none available, reset the bios by removing battery or with the jumper. If that doesnt work use your cpu in your friends mobo and his cpu in yours to see where the error lies

Turn off Intel Speed-step, maybe that is what it's causing you trouble.

Nope still dont see speedstep.
But i can disable EIST and C1E and it still changes it back.
But when i change TM2 it stays on 9 but shuts down just before logon screen.

try reseting cmos by removing the battery or the jumper. Also make sure to download and right the new bios to the chip. This could fix you problem.

What are your voltages to the board like, are they in spec? That seems like a pretty small power supply, 550W, for that processor and drives. That may be why you cant increase your clock ratio. Verify your voltage in BIOS to see if they meet the motherboard and processor requirements.
