Last time I ordered HDDs from Newegg.com, they simply sandwiched the 1TB WD HDD in between some air bladders. Fortunately they did not burst and my HDD arrived intact.

I ordered another 1TB to add to my collection, WD Black, and I just received it today. Newegg.com finally decided to beef up the packing to reduce possible HDD DOAs resulting from burst air bladder. Yaaaaaa!!!!

The HDD was packed as follows:

1. Wrapped around with bubble wrap.
2. Inserted in small white box which they typically use to package OEM optical drives.
3. Placed in typical brown shipping box and it was surrounded by foam peanuts.

Did a quick format to make sure the HDD was alive. Check. Now doing full format to check for possible bad sectors.

Good. About time. Even if they need to increase shipping charges a little to cover their cost.

I just ordered a wd caviar 500gb and it came that way.. Then I ordered a 1tb seagate and another 500gb cavier and the wd was doa, even though it was packaged perfectly. I eagerly await my replacement drive.

Thanks newegg for finally paying attention to this...
