Hey all. i have an 8800GT that just refuses to overclock. i've tried Rivatuner and AtiTool, but just getting nowhere! all i can do is adjust the fan speed. When i do overcolck the is no improvement and AtiTools doesnt even pick up my core or memory speeds.

please help!

250gb Maxtor
20x LG DVD
Samsung 19" wide
2GB of DDR800

what brand & model 8800gt? have you tried ntune as well? that is the official nvidia oc tool, although i use rivatuner myself.

Its Chaintech, but really just a referance 8800gt with a sticker. Ntuner doesnt work either

If it has the stock reference cooler you will need to get an aftermarket cooler to get any good OC's. I have the Zalman VF900 on mine with a steady idle temp of around 45 celsius and 58 under load.
Ive also heard you could use the VF1000 but i had no experience with how good it cool's.

Some 8800GT's (and I say this from personal experience) just don't OC very well or at all so don't sweat it.

I dont have a temperature problem. It just doesnt want to do anything at all.

Is there nothing i can do! Its the most expensive part im my entire PC. I want to brake tn 11 000 mark for 3DMark06

Yep, there are some bad apples in those 8800gt. Bottom binned chips. It's rare, but some people out there will end up with them. That's the main reason overclockers tend to opt for the higher costing gts, aside from dual slot cooler.
