Lian Li case aluminium atx 120 extra room for long psu
I have a board that can run in crossfire x and I was going to do 4 x 3870 at 8x but i purchaced a new 24'' monitor eirlier this year runing at 1900 x 1200
So now the 4870s are comeing out what whoud be the best PSU for 4x4870 seeing that each one takes 2 six plugs
I will buy 2 first up then 2 later this yera but first I need to figure out what size PSU to get and I dont no of any that will suply 8x6 pin power plugs
Can someone please help
Say no to crossfireX and the 4870. 2 4870s take HUGE performance hits if even ONE is at X8 speed. Just get 2 and enjoy them, at x16/x16 speeds of course.

Yup, 4 4870 is kind of a waste. You would need a massive PSU to run of them anyways, you should be very happy with 2. There is a big performance difference between 1 and 2 4870, not so much with 3 or 4. Drivers suck.
Well to be honest The best config would be two 4870x2 if your going to do quad. They will scale well and probably be cheaper if ATI prices competivly around 500-550 it would be a very resonable price compared to NVIDIA top of the line. Just wait for ATI top of the line graphics card some time in July.

Well my last build was overclocking 2.4 opty with overclocked 1900xtx crosfire now I wanted to try out the 4 gpu's with no overclocking on a 3.2 g AMD duel core thats why im chooseing ATI they would be cheeper all up then invidea
My mother boad has 4 pcie slots 2x16 and 2x8 speeds which will configure out to do 2 @ 16 or 1x16 and 2x8 or 4 @ 8
I read some reviews both Toms and anantech and crosfire 4870 realy kick ass
The power conecters that run from the psu to the cards would have to be 8 six pin plugs most or the 1000w units have 3sixes and 3 8 pin
Thanks for the tips I will go with the 1200 w PSU I have plenty of room for an extra long one if need be
