Hi, I'm feeling like replacing my crappy video card on this already crappy system, so here goes.

I have a computer with:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core processor 3800+, at stock speed
4 GB PC-5300 DDR2 Memory (RAM)
240 Gig HDD
DVD/CD Drive
PCI card for wifi connection to router

I think that about sums it up. I want to add this video card:

ATI Radeon HD 4850

So would a Antec TruPower Trio 430w be able to handle that upgrade to the video card? Or should I consider upgrading my PSU? If so, to what?

Thanks for the help!

Probably, but it might be a little close for comfort especially if it's a few years old. It might depend on how the rails are balanced. Otherwise, right now you can pick up an Antec Earthwatts 500W PSU for $60 at Newegg.

Yes, it will handle it. The only reason i would upgrade it would be if you intended to carry it over to your next build.

It's about a year old I think. I just want to make sure I'm not borderline working, so my computer doesn't fry on me. Is it pretty guaranteed to work? Without much risk?

See for yourself here:

Select the HD 3870 and then add 50 watts to the result (since they haven't upgraded their card choices yet). You are probably on the edge.
