Windows vista update not working

Hello,
I have been trying to do a Windows Vista update I started on the 10/11/12 and I keep on trying but all that is happening if that the update program runs but does not find any thing. I have tried (Cmd /c ren %systemroot%\System32\Spupdsvc.exeSpupdsvc.old) & (Gmd /c ren %WinDir%\System32\Spupdsvc.exeSpupdsvc.old) but these do not work has anybody got any ideas?

Try re-register wuaueng.dll module.

If Windows Update does not find anything then there is nothing to update... hmm?
