Hey guys,

I think I have settled on my final OC and just wanted to get some other eyes to check on it. This is my first build and my first attempt at overclocking. My setup is as follows:

i7 920
ASUS P6T V2
ocz platinum 1600 6gb
cm V8 cpu cooler

This is the OC I settled on (I did the tweaking through the BIOS, not using Turbo V):

I have the memory running at 1440 @ 7-7-7-18 1T timings. This all passed prime95 for two hours capping around 75 degrees celsius. It idles in the 39-42 degree range. Do these voltages look ok? (They are stock as far as I know...I started with about 1.28 cpu volt and like a 1.27 QPI/DRAM volt and worked my way all the way down to stock voltages).

Will I really see a noticeable difference by pushing to 4.0ghz (aside from synthetic benchmarks)? Do my temps seem to be ok? Thanks for any input!

The thermal spec for I7 is 67.9C. I wouldnt feel comfortable if full load is at 75C even though rarely does anyone hit 100% load under normal use.

hm...where did you see that info? I heard it was in the 70s, with a safe load temp of 20 below TJ (100 degrees C)

Edit: found this: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=217965

a few posts down outlines the i7's thermal spec. The thermal spec for core temps (which is what we see through programs like Realtemp is 100c at full load. The thermal spec for Tcase (which apparently we can not see or monitor) is the 69.7c you mentioned earlier. It would appear these temps are safe for core at full load.
