Hard drive space vanishing

I have been having problems with Guild Wars 2 and Star Wars the Old Republic both crashing on loading screens and now its happening almost constantly. I realised a few days ago that the free space on my HDD seems to be shrinking. I kept an eye on it today and its gone from 24.7 GB free to 15.8 GB in the space of about 5 hours.

I have run Iobit system care 6 which reports that apparently my PC is fine.

Any suggestions please because at this rate my PC is going to be a glorified paperweight.

If you are losing that much free space, something is running that is replicating itself (virus?), or creating logs of something, etc.

1. Run something like Dirstat to see what folder is increasing in size. Run a disk cleanup as some baddies like to hide in temp folders.

2. - Look in Startup and task Manager for anything running that seems suspicious.

3. - Don't rely on a single AV - Run some other free scanners for malware detection - Recommend Malwarebytes. Look for rootkits (rootkitrevealer.
