I am planing on building my own system this time and want to sell my old system to a friend but do not want to rip them off. On the other hand I want to get what the system is worth as well. I have a 3 year old Alienware P4 3.2, 2 gigs of ram, 460 watt PSU, EVGA 7600 card with 256 mem, 120 gig HD, Abit MB, DVD burner, Sound blaser audiology. How much is a fair price for both I was hoping for $500 or at least $450. Thanks for any advice looked on E-Bay but they did not have my exact specs saw one for around $500.

These are all old parts .... personally I would not pay more than $200.

I'd say if you find someone who wants an Alienware case you can get some money $50-$100 for it. Other than that it's basicly "worthless" as you can get a new system for around $500 that performs better in every situation.

If it has a watercooling kit it's worth about $100 more. :)
But that's just my opinion.

Heck for that much I may as well canabalize the old system into the new one. I was hoping for a lot more than $200 paid $1500 3 years ago!

you're not going to get $450 for that setup. if you did, you'd be ripping your friend off. I agree with smartel, that system is probably worth around $200-250, at best. and even that is kind've on the high side.

you have to consider that you could build a brand new budget system for about $500 with current hardware.

That's sad but what the previous posters said is true,a 2 or 3 years old comp is ''very old''. The depreciation of computer hardware leaves pretty much everyone with a sour taste in their mouth.....I always get a feeling of being ripped off when trying to sell old computer parts.
