I`ve done like 2-3 days in internet research trying to understand all chipsets and stuf but..... I really need advise in motherboard&PSU choose
I want to build system around
- 1x BFG GeForce 9800GTX OC (on 22” LCD for mostly MMORPG)
- Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 45nm
- Crucial Ballistix DDR2 1066 MHz PC2-8500 (1GB x 2)
- WD Caviar 250GB SATAII 7200RPM 16MB Buffer
- Case - Cooler Master Centurion 5 with some addition fans IF needed
So now I got like 300-350$CA budget for PSU and Motherboard
Which mother board (Not SLI/SLI whichever is cheaper) &PSU will not slow this system down and will fit into 350$????
I`m not aiming for any overcloaking so cheap/quality is way to go for me.
thanks
but Unfortunately the cheapest motherboards on x48 chipset cost around 300$ around so I’m wondering if any boards on P45 chipset for example (GIGABYTE GA-EP45-DS3R LGA 775 Intel P45 ~ 150$) won’t slow me down?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] -EP45-DS3R
or if i want to have that speed i cant go any lower than that X48 board?
ASUS P5E Deluxe LGA 775 Intel X48 + 610W Continuous @ 40°C EPS12V Power Supply = ~ 450-500$ around
I just did some more research on forums and found out that P45 and X38 cannot run Pcie2.0x16 in sli mode as 2x16 just 2x8 - considering that i`m not going to run SLI mode at all on that board ( next upgrade will defenetly be next generation of boards like DDR3 or maybe DDR4 support )
will P45/X38 on single GPU get me same performance as X48?

If you're not going to SLI or Crossfire, then a P35 or a P43/45 board is an excellent choice. The X38/X48 are high priced crossfire boards. Gigabyte does a good job on P35 boards and ASUS seems to have done a great job on the P45 boards.
P35 gigabyte board for $85

PSU Corsair 650w for $80 after rebate, bigger then you need for a single card solution, but on sale now at the same price as their 550w
